How to Leave A Group on Facebook

Most Facebook groups are created to serve the purpose of information dissemination about particular stuff. It may so happen that this "stuff" in question will only last for a specific time frame. Once it has run its course, remaining in the group almost makes no sense. The thing to do at this point is to leave.

Leaving A Group on Facebook 

Steps to leaving a Facebook group both on Desktop and Mobile devices are presented below.

A. Mobile

• Open your Facebook application
• Click the menu bar on the bottom right corner (iOS) or top right corner (Android)
• Scroll through the options to find and select Groups
• Tap the group which you want to leave
• Tap Joined below the group's cover photo
• Select Leave Group
• Tap Leave Group again when prompted

B. Desktop

• Visit the Facebook website via https://www.facebook.com to enter your login details and log in
• Click Groups in the column on the left-hand side
• Click your group's name which you wish to delete
• Tap on the settings gear to the right of the group which you wish to delete
• Select Leave Group from the drop-down menu
• If you don't want other people in the group to be able to add you back to the group, check the "Prevent other members from adding you back to this group" box before continuing.
• Tap Leave Group from the pop-up menu

This will confirm your decision and remove you from the group.
